Maybelline New York Unstoppable Highlighter in Fluffy Cloud - Limited Edition for Spring 2011

Maybelline New York's Unstoppable Highlighter in Fluffy Cloud

Right when I had lost my favorite MAC Chroma pencil, I found Maybelline's  Unstoppable Highlighter in Fluffy Cloud with their limited edition display for Spring 2011 featuring products used during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.  This white eyeliner (though labeled highlighter and probably multi-purpose) was exactly what the doctor ordered.  There was even a $1 off coupon with the display!  Yay!

I just had assumed that this product was going to be a shimmering white retractable pencil  that I could use to highlight the inner corners of my eyes.  Well, like mom said, don't just assume.  I opened the top when I got home and was surprised to see that it was a pretty matte white.  Weird right?   But this actually turned out to work out better.  I have been using it a lot for many of my looks inspired by spring flowers.  See my Sakura-themed look here and more coming soon.

I'm pretty happy with my purchase, but I'm sad to see that this is limited edition.  It stays on the lower waterline really well and applies very opaque white.  I might have to go pick up another one from the display.  If you see it, act fast because there are only two per display and these are limited edition!

Do you use white eyeliner?  Are you ever surprised to open a product and get something different from what you thought?

Lighten Up Your Lipsticks With MAC Lightfully Bright Lipglasses in Atmospheric and Ethereal

 Would Rainbow Brite wear these?

Hi everyone!  I haven't been feeling well lately, so today's post will be quick.  When I went for my MAC Wonder Woman makeover, I found that my local MAC store was carrying the Lightfully Bright collection.  Lightfully Bright is an Asia exclusive and was supposed to be online only, but I guess there are displays at a few free-standing MAC stores.

I picked up two of the limited edition Lipglasses from the collection.  These shades are sheer and probably best applied as accents on top of lipstick.  Their light reflective micro glitters makes them pretty, but I wouldn't go to the trouble of hunting these down.  I think they are easy to dupe and relatively similar on the lips.  Astro Cool, which I didn't purchase, was a less shimmery/duochrome-y version of Atmospheric, which I picked up.  Atmospheric is a sheer fuchsia pink with bright pink, violet, blue irisdescent shimmer.  Ethereal, my favorite of the collection, is a sheer milky baby blue with pink and violet shimmer.  If you liked Best of Breed, from Fabulous Felines, but found it too gray on lips (I know I did), you will like Ethereal!  Outer Space, the fourth Lipglass of the collection, is a sheer soft off-white, but I had similar products.

As you can see, Ethereal is slightly milkier which lends to more of a color change on lip colors.  Do you *need* both or four?  Probably not.  But it would be nice to have one or one that similar to add a little brightness to your lips when needed.

Lightfully Bright collection is available at maccosmetics.com.  Atmospheric and Ethereal lipglasses are $14.50 for 4.8g, 0.17oz

Don't Stop Believin' - Gleek Out with Glee Mini 6 Piece Set from Sephora by OPI

Glee transcended from guilty pleasure to cult following.  I am home every Tuesday religiously!  Something about Glee just fills me with... glee?!  I seriously bursting with anticipation every week, so when I heard that Sephora by OPI was coming out with a lacquer collection for the show, I was thrilled.

The six mini bottles.  Three are exclusive to this set.

Sephora by OPI launched 11 new, limited edition shades, three which are exclusive to the mini set.  I picked up the "6-pack" mini set, but I may have to go back for some of the other colors.  I really want Hell to the No, just for the name!
 Gleek Out
A shimmering lime green micro glitter.  This took 3 coats for good coverage.
 Express Yourself to Yourself
A sparkling coral pink with raspberry shimmer.  This is a kit exclusive.  This also took 3 coats.
 Slushied
A bright blue creme that's a cross between torquoise and robin's egg blue.  This color is available in regular-sized bottle.
Slushied with Celibacy Club on top.
 Miss Bossy Pants
A pretty raspberry with iridescent violet.  I feel like this is so electric to be a Rachel shade!
Miss Bossy Pants with Celibacy Club
What?  Rachel and Quinn together?  I am not sure it works in theory, but on the nails it's cute!  What do you think?
 Sue vs. Shue
A shimmering navy blue.  Is this the color of a Sue track suit or a Mr. Shue vest?  This is in the mini kit exclusive.   How would Sue feel about that?
Right: Celibacy Club Left: China Glaze in Fairy Dust.
Celibacy Club is a top coat holographic mini micro-glitter.  This is also a kit exclusive.  I found this to be very similar to China Glaze's Fairy Dust, which has become slightly harder to find (though I believe it's going to be relaunched in an upcoming collection).
Right: Celibacy Club Left: China Glaze in Fairy Dust.
Fairy Dust is slightly less dense and the glitter is finer than Celibacy Club.

Glee 6 Piece Mini Kit is $24 and available at Sephora.com and at Sephora stores.

Chanel Spring 2010 - Black Pearl (513) Le Vernis Nail Colour - Swatches

Black Pearl is a part of Chanel's Collection les Perles de Chanel.  I admit, I was going to pass on this color.  From initial pictures and swatches, I didn't think that this color was going to live up to the hype of past Chanel lacquers.  Though it may not be "Jade-worthy," Black Pearl is a sophisticated and a très chic take on a black/grey polish.  The overall effect is a lustrous steel gray with green irisdescent shimmer.  After seeing the bottle in real life, I really appreciated the green in the shade.  It brings a luminous effect to what could just be a flat steel metallic.  Instead, Black Pearl is a very grown-up and not at all gothy color.  You could definitely get away with this color at work even in a conservative environment.

I found my bottle's formulation to be a little thin, but it wasn't at all streaky or runny.  Two coats for opacity.  Three thin coats would probably be best for a soft and pearly finish.

Can you see the green in the shade?

Black Pearl is $25 for 13ml, 0.4oz.  Black Pearl is limited edition and available at Chanel counters and at chanel.com.

What are your thoughts on this Black Pearl?  Do you have any favorite Chanel lacquers?

MAC Peacocky Mega Metal Eyeshadows - Pan Shots and Swatches - PIC HEAVY!

 MEGA MEGA MEGA!

Today with the release of MAC's Peacocky collection come 15 new limited edition eyeshadows in a new formula called Mega Metal.  These are pressed eyeshadows, not creme like Metal-X.  I just got my package this afternoon, so I haven't had much time to play with them.  However, just from swatching I can tell that these are something to get excited about.  Super richly pigmented, great soft creamy powder texture and some really unique, fun shades.
There are a lot of photos here, so I'll shut up for now.  I'll try to post some swatches in the sun/natural light tomorrow and some comps.  Remember, click to enlarge any photo.

Chanel Ombres Perlées de Chanel - Spring 2010 - Eyeshadow Palette - Swatches

 Chanel Ombres Perlées de Chanel.

Chanel debuts Ombres Perlées de Chanel, a limited edition quint eyeshadow palette, for their Spring 2011 collection, Collection les Perles de Chanel.  Every picture of Coco, she is dripping not with diamonds but with pearls.  They have become synonymous with what is iconic Chanel.  The makeup from this collection captures that glowing luminescence that radiates from pearls.

The eyeshadows in this quint are all of a pearl luster finish.  The texture is soft, creamy and blendable.  All the shades aren't just straight up frosts or shimmers.  Each carries a soft iridescence in blue, pink, violet, gold to add depth to the shade and draw glow where applied.  I am highly impressed overall with the quality of this palette so far.  It definitely stands up better than many of my recent Chanel quad purchases, especially the baked round eyeshadows.  I can't wait to play with this more.

We will feature another post with dupes of the shades from this palette, but I have to say that this is the first Chanel product in a long time that has gotten me excited.  More dish when I'm able to do a full review! But so far, very good!
