It's Like Baby, Baby, Baby - Justin Bieber One Less Lonely Girl Collection from Nicole by OPI - Me+Blue

Me + Blue, your mama and your cousin too.

As much as I love tween hysteria and am sympathetic to the symptoms of puppy love at a pre-pubescent age, something about coming today's biggest tween bop idol, Justin Bieber combining with nail polish was something I find initially unsettling.  This comes from a woman, who recently went to go see her jr. high school idols, New Kids on The Block, at their reunion tour.  But with that aside, it just felt like an area where Bieber Fever did not belong.

But, then I saw the nail polishes.  I actually was really into quite a few of the 14 colors from the One Less Lonely Girl Collection.  Who really knows nail polish better than tween girls?  It's no wonder that the collection sold out quickly upon it's first release in December.  Now released, but still limited in stock, the collection is back for those who didn't get a chance to get them the first.

I guess I will Never Say Never again to Bieber.

Me + Blue - a royal blue with micro holographic glitter.

Don't Stop Believin' - Gleek Out with Glee Mini 6 Piece Set from Sephora by OPI

Glee transcended from guilty pleasure to cult following.  I am home every Tuesday religiously!  Something about Glee just fills me with... glee?!  I seriously bursting with anticipation every week, so when I heard that Sephora by OPI was coming out with a lacquer collection for the show, I was thrilled.

The six mini bottles.  Three are exclusive to this set.

Sephora by OPI launched 11 new, limited edition shades, three which are exclusive to the mini set.  I picked up the "6-pack" mini set, but I may have to go back for some of the other colors.  I really want Hell to the No, just for the name!
 Gleek Out
A shimmering lime green micro glitter.  This took 3 coats for good coverage.
 Express Yourself to Yourself
A sparkling coral pink with raspberry shimmer.  This is a kit exclusive.  This also took 3 coats.
 Slushied
A bright blue creme that's a cross between torquoise and robin's egg blue.  This color is available in regular-sized bottle.
Slushied with Celibacy Club on top.
 Miss Bossy Pants
A pretty raspberry with iridescent violet.  I feel like this is so electric to be a Rachel shade!
Miss Bossy Pants with Celibacy Club
What?  Rachel and Quinn together?  I am not sure it works in theory, but on the nails it's cute!  What do you think?
 Sue vs. Shue
A shimmering navy blue.  Is this the color of a Sue track suit or a Mr. Shue vest?  This is in the mini kit exclusive.   How would Sue feel about that?
Right: Celibacy Club Left: China Glaze in Fairy Dust.
Celibacy Club is a top coat holographic mini micro-glitter.  This is also a kit exclusive.  I found this to be very similar to China Glaze's Fairy Dust, which has become slightly harder to find (though I believe it's going to be relaunched in an upcoming collection).
Right: Celibacy Club Left: China Glaze in Fairy Dust.
Fairy Dust is slightly less dense and the glitter is finer than Celibacy Club.

Glee 6 Piece Mini Kit is $24 and available at Sephora.com and at Sephora stores.

Get Red Hot With CND for Valentine's Day - Just Red and Red Sparkle Effect - Photos and Swatches

Does this say amour to you?

I know it's cliché, but what is better for Valentine's Day than red nails?  As much as I love all the weird darks, blues, greens, greys, purples, there is something refreshing about putting on a classic red shade.

Creative Nail Design has put out a duo for Vday called Red Hot.  It holds one classic red nail polish and one ruby red glitter CND Effect.  Just Red, is just that, a straight up primary glossy red.  The application is so smooth, and the color isn't overwhelming.  The overall result is a glossy, wet looking finish.  Red Sparkle, is a CND Effects shade, that you can put over any color.  I want to try this over black, but over Just Red, it's a pretty perfect combination.  I own a few of the CND Effects and find them handy to have in my nail arsenal.  They are great for jazzing up a blah shade or refreshing a 2 day old mani with a shiny new topping!

 Just Red.

Red Hot duo is available where CND products are sold.  Check their website for salons and locations. www.creativenaildesign.com

What's your Vday mani going to be this year?  Do you like classic reds?

Wet n' Wild Megalast Nail Color in Blackmail - Swatches and Photos

 Have you ever been blackmailed?

I don't think I've ever been blackmailed, but Marlowe's sad eyes have totally guilted me to giving him some carrot or apple when he looks especially cute and pathetic.

Wet n' Wild Megalast Nail Color in Blackmail is a black jelly with itsy bitsy tiny orange and green micro glitter.  In the bottle, I thought it had the potential to be interesting in the bottle and fantastic on the nail.  It turns out that it's just really meh on both.  I think I had high hopes that this would be a hidden drugstore gem, but it turns out that it's just ok.  However, the price tag of $1.99 doesn't hurt.
 This was 3 coats.

Wet n' Wild - Wild Shine Fall 2010 Collection - Limited Edition

Wet n' Wild - Wild Shine Collection Display

Seriously folks. What's not to love about Wet n' Wild. For $0.99 you get a decent bottle of nail polish in an array of colors and, from time to time, they come out with fun collections like Wild Shine for Fall 2010. These colors are limited edition, but there are some bottles that are perm that are simply relabeled.

Nouveau Cheap and KarenD have already written about dupes within the Wet n' Wild brand from the collection. Please check out their posts!

Midnight
Midnight is violet purple with multi-color holographic glitter.
Very vibrant!

Midnight - 2 coats with 1 coat top coat.
2 coats top coats would probably be ideal for a smoother finish.

Midnight

Midnight is supposedly a dupe for a long-gone discontinued Wet n' Wild shade called Wild Orchid. I don't own Wild Orchid, but Chloe from Chloe's Nails did a comparison of the bottles. Click here to view her review of this collection.

Fireworks - a mix of micro yellow gold glitter with holographic octagonal bits.

Fireworks - 4 coats.
Would look sparkling over black.

Fireworks

Tipsy - a golden peach glitter.

I put Tipsy over orange creme for Halloween.
It added just the right amount of subtle sparkle.

Tipsy

Tipsy reminded me a bit of Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure's Golden Ticket. The shade of gold is very similar, but Golden Ticket is really dense in application (lots of glitter per stroke). I can get almost complete coverage with two coats of Golden Ticket and Tipsy above is pictured at 4.

If you would like me to do a side-by-side comparison, let me know in the comments below.

Extravaganza - a cool fleckled glass red with bits of red and gold shimmer.

Extravaganza - reminds me slightly of Ali's Big Break from OPI's Burlesque.
A similar glass finish, but Ali's Big Break stands out more as a red.
Extravaganza is the muted version.

Extravaganza - 2 coats with top coat.

BONUS! I was really impressed with these and picked up Spectacle too. Spectacle is a pink, purple, silver glitter.

Spectacle
3 coats pinkie and ring, 4 coats middle and index.

Halloween Nail Polishes - China Glaze Ick A Body and Jordana Wicked

Halloween is definitely my favorite holiday of the year. People take time to think about their looks... including details like hair, makeup and of course nails. Nail color is a great way to be festive in an everyday way (for Halloween or any holiday).

Two fun polishes from this year's Halloween offerings are: China Glaze Ick A Body - a pumpkin orange chunky glitter with a thin black base; and Jordana Wicked - a black jelly with orange micro glitter suspended.

I almost like wearing this alternating combination.

Are you jelly of this jelly? hehe

I purchased my China Glaze Ick A Body at TransDesign and my Jordana Wicked at Cherry Culture.

Borghese - Fall 2010 - Vigneto Berry and Scintilla Magic

Below are two polishes from Borghese's Scintillare Fall 2010 collection. This collection consists of 6 colors all with glitter. It's also a mix of Matte and normal, but it's not explained what's matte or regular? Fortunately and also unknowingly, I purchased one of each type from the collection.

Vigneto Berry - is a magenta matte with chunky pink fuchsia glitter. I know people have mixed feelings about Matte, but generally I like them. This however was an epic fail as matte. It just looked chunky and lumpy... honestly, just plain ugly. But, two coats of Poshe later and it's stunning.

Scintilla Magic - is a thinnish jelly real red with micro red glitter. I love the name. It's really like a flash of magic. The shade radiates. There are a lot of colors like this (China Glaze Ruby Pumps comes to mind), but I was really impressed by the formula and application. I liked that it was slightly thinner and easier to build up. On my nails below is three coats with 1 coat top coat.

Normally, I think Borghese to be slightly overpriced, but I purchased these with a coupon and at RiteAid on BOGO (score!). I actually only owned 1 Borghese before I purchased these two. I think I might try to get some others from this collection. These polishes are limited edition.

Ewww.. so do not like the texture of this. Matte + glitter = chunky dried vomit

Just not pretty. Makes me sad. :(

2 coats of top coat to the rescue! I used Poshe here. Seriously, what a lifesaver.

Ka-pow! Look at the dimension and complexity.

Matte, I couldn't wait to take it off, but now with glassy top coat, I don't want to take it off.

If you follow me on Twitter, you may recall me mentioning that I dressed as Jem and the Holograms for Halloween a couple years back. This color strikes me as a Jem shade. Truly outrageous!

Scintilla Magic - not matte
Not unique, but it's done so well. The application is perfection. The formula is thin, but there is tons of teeny micro glitter in each stroke.

I will definitely be wearing this over the holidays. Colors like this make me happy.

This color just seems to glow!

Thanks for looking and Happy Friday!

Flakies Comparison - Part 1

Being relatively new the nails, the memory of seeing my first flakie nail polish is still fresh in my mind. I remember seeing Nfu Oh! spam on MUA and then frantically googling the words "flakie" "nail polish." That is the short story I discovered Scrangie and all the other wonderful nail blogs which I now check religiously. I stared endlessly at the irregularly shaped iridescence, and I fell in love. I will be posting more photos of other flakies in my stash, but here is a start for now.

Nubar Opulent Pearl vs. Nubar 2010
Nubar Opulent Pearl is a sheer milky white base with rainbow colored flakies. Nubar 2010 is a red/orange iridescence.
