IMATS New York - Eve Pearl Makeover At IMATS!

Beautyburg's E gets her makeup done at Eve Pearl.

Eve Pearl, 5 time Emmy award winning makeup artist, knows a thing or two about looking good on camera.  At her booth at IMATS, makeovers were going around the clock helping women (and men) go from good to great.  Beautyburg's E volunteered, extremely willingly, to be a test subject for an Eve Pearl makeover.

If you haven't checked out Eve Pearl's site, I definitely recommend doing so.  There are some serious night and day transformations.  Dark circles, disappear!  Acne scars, vanished!  Hyperpigmentation, concealed!  Really amazing stuff.

E before.  Such a natural beauty, but she wanted to add a little drama to her look and define her eyebrows.
This is E's BEFORE photo.

IMATS New York - Eve Pearl At IMATS - New HD Liquid Foundation!

 Eve Pearl doing her work!

I always find Eve Pearl impressive.  Whether it's by her energy to do makeup for TV, run a makeup studio, spearhead a global makeup brand, be continually omnipresent at all the makeup trade shows.... it's all very, very impressive.  Another thing to add onto that list of impressive things about Eve Pearl is her presence and organization at IMATS.  Her booth was completely tricked out with cameras, studio lights, optimal counter space and makeover stations, TVs, photographers, cameramen, handlers, etc.  Her staff was amazingly knowledgeable, friendly and composed, which is difficult in the mayhem of a trade show.

But what I always find most impressive about Eve Pearl is actually the products.  They are always so good.  So you can imagine my excitement when they were premiering their new HD Liquid Foundation at IMATS!  Of course, I had to snag a tube.  This formula is not yet available on the website, as they are still waiting for bottles (prototype photographed below), but they were selling 0.5oz tubes at IMATS.  I will have a full review on the foundation soon, but what I can tell you about it is that is it..... you guessed it..... impressive.  It's medium to full coverage, with the option of being sheered out with a damp sponge.  The texture is luxurious.  It feels like nourishing lotion on my face.  The overall finish is satin and it's extremely lightweight.  For those who are intimidated by cream foundations but have been interested in the Eve Pearl line, this is for you.

Look out for my full review soon!  Check www.evepearl.com for updates!

This is one lucky girl to be getting made over by Eve herself!

Eve Pearl Lip Color in 209 Amaretto - Brown Lips Didn't Die With 90210

Eve Pearl Lipstick in 209 Amaretto.

Now I am a child of the 90's.  Maybe it's me getting old, but something about that decade felt like the last great wave of cool underground edge.  Before everyone had the internet... when people just had one phone.... things felt more precious.

If you wanted to be cool, you did your research.  Things are so easy now.  Want to know what your favorite celeb has on their face at the red carpet?  It's usually online in full detail with a video tutorial on YouTube before they've even handed out the first award.  Back in the 90's, I always wanted to know what lipstick Kelly and Brenda were wearing.  They had this perfect brown, brick red matte shade that epitomizes that era for me.  I remember trying color after color to get that 90210 brick red.

Possibly due to my exhausting attempts to find the perfect Brenda and Kelly shade, I always associated brick red lips with 90210.  And subsequently I've always associated 90210 with the 90's along with MC Hammer, Roxette, Z. Calvaricci and other things I loved at the time but feel dated now.

So sure enough, it's been a while since I've even thought about brown reds for lips.  (Full disclosure) The lovely Eve Pearl and her team sent me a lovely package to thank me for some recent reviews I had done.  Her products seriously blow me away, but I had to say when I saw the tube of lipstick.... my first reaction was oh no 90210!  I thought why would they pick this color? But of course, not to look a gift horse in the mouth, I decided to try it.

The formula on this lipstick is sublime.  Very nice slip.  It doesn't feel cakey on, and there is great pigmentation with a very light, glossy texture.

Now for the color.  In the tube, 209 Amaretto looks bronzey, warm brown with golden shimmer.  And on the lips, it is that... but more.  There is a rosiness to it.  This color is glossy, moisturizing and has a great sheen.  It isn't that dry matte that was popular among our friends at Beverly Hills High.  Amaretto brings out a brightness on my face.  The hue is a perfect amount of color and intensity without being overbearing or brash.  The overall effect is colorful but polished... A blushing, brownish red that makes me think that there was legitimacy to why I thought brown lips were so great back in the 90's.

I am going to IMATS In a couple weeks in New York, and you will see me getting more lippies from Eve Pearl because of the formula.  Will you see me there in brown lips?  You just might. :)

Eve Pearl HD Dual Pressed Powder Review and New Video on Our YouTube Channel!

You have heard me rave about the Eve Pearl's HD Foundation, click this link if you haven't seen this review! It's a luxurious cream foundation that feels like skincare, photographs beautifully and creates a flawless finish. As much as I love this foundation, sometimes I need to just apply something fast and run. In this type of situation, I have typically reached for powder foundations formulas. However, I confess, I have never been a huge fan of them.  I find that powder foundations to be a necessary evil when you are in a pinch, and I had never found a powder foundation that gave a real "skin" finish until I found Eve Pearl's Dual Pressed Powder.

Eve Pearl's Dual Pressed Powder is a dual color compact powder foundation that works gorgeously with their cream foundation, but it also works on its own. Check out my video (above) and Eve Pearl's video (below) on how to apply.  With the two shades, it's easy to blend to get a color match.  The compact that I purchased at the end of November and received in December already has hit the pan from tons of usage.  Whether it's setting my foundation or using on its own, I love how this powder looks on my face!

In the video, I'm also using some other products by Eve Pearl that I've loving.  The Eye Palette in Au Natural is a handy set of warmer neutrals.   Click this link to see my review and swatches of Au Natural and Diva Eyes (not in the video).  I also use the Salmon Concealer and Treatment, which is an amazing undereye corrector.  The Photo Finish Press Powder in Neutral sets everything to look picture perfect.

HD Dual Pressed Powder is $42 for 9g, 0.3oz and available at www.evepearl.com.

How do you feel about powder foundation?  Is it a necessary evil or necessity?

Eve Pearl - The Eye Palettes - Au Natural and Diva Eyes

Eve Pearl Eyeshadow Palettes in Diva Eyes and Au Natural

Happy New Year everyone!  One of the great lines I discovered this year was Eve Pearl.  If you missed our recent Eve Pearl HD Foundation review, click here.  In the review, I did a look using the Au Natural palette.

Eve Pearl, the person, is a five Emmy award winning makeup guru, and Eve Pearl, the line, makes fantastic quality products for getting you camera ready.  Her HD Foundation and Salmon concealer get a lot of attention from bloggers and YouTube channels.  From my recent haul, I have to say that every product I ordered I have become completely enamoured with, and these eyeshadow palettes are no exception.

I picked two palettes that were very different from each other, so I could get a sense on the spectrum of colors, finishes and quality from these products.  Just from the way most makeup lines are, it's rare that companies get mattes, shimmers, pearls, frosts, glitters all consistently right and in good quality.  Eve Pearl is not most makeup lines. All the shades were richly pigmented and applied smoothly.  I found myself drawing from both palettes to create looks.  I would definitely like to try other palettes from the line.

The ingredients.  Check the website for up to date info.

 Sleek gunmetal case.

Diva Eyes

Diva Eyes - this palette is full of so many fun and vibrant shades.  There is a little bit too much to use them all at once, but I love using this palette as my "accent" arsenal.  The Au Natural palette has great base colors to set up the eye for a "pop" color from Diva Eyes.  I love Emerald Green, and I have been using Black Frost to set eyeliner.

Diva Eyes - Top: Sugar Plum, Cinnamon, Desert Rose.
Bottom: Black Frost, Midnight Blue, Emerald Green.

These were swatched dry with no base.  Wet and dry they are very pigmented.  When worn with an eye primer (like Nars Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base), they wore very well all day with little fading or creasing.

Au Natural

Au Natural - Top: Caramel Crisp, Cafe Latte, White Russian.
Bottom: Coco, Nutmeg, Tiramisu.

If you need a good neutrals kit, get this palette.  I have been using at least 1 shade from it since it arrived.  The lighter shades are also wonderfully rich and do not come across too sheer.

Look how thin and sleek the palette is.
Eve Pearl stacked on top of D&G, Chanel and Dior.

Another aspect I appreciate about this palette is how thin it is.  The packaging is sturdy, but it's sleek and thin.  No extra bulk to weigh down your makeup bag or kit.

If you're not sure how to use these palettes, I highly recommend checking out Eve Pearl's YouTube Channel.  Finally, a brand that understands how important and how dually beneficial it is to have instructional videos on their products.

Au Natural and Diva Eyes are $40 each and available at EvePearl.com

Eve Pearl - HD Foundation Review - Before and After

HD Foundation Trio A (Light/Medium)

Unless you are addicted to YouTube channels or you have been to IMATS recently, you most probably have never heard of Eve Pearl.  Eve Pearl, the person, is a five time Emmy award winning makeup artist who has worked on numerous celebrities and personalities for TV and movies.  Eve Pearl, the line, produces some amazingly high quality products with serious skincare ingredients that are made to work for photography and help you look your best.

I was really interested in trying this line after seeing the foundation and concealer pop up again and again on YouTube.  Eve Pearl has her own extensive channel on YouTube.  I highly recommend watching it for pointers and instructions on the products.  There are lots of tutorials that you can benefit from even if you weren't interested in the products.

I am NC35 (on the MAC shade scale), and from the videos, I felt that I was possibly in between a medium and light in foundations.  I chose this particular trio because I thought it would suit my skin.  HD Foundation Trio A - Light Medium comes with foundations Light 1, Medium 1 and Medium 2.  Price is $50.

If you aren't sure what shade would work for you, Eve Pearl staffers will match you if you email them of photo of yourself.  Here is a link to their contact page.  The line prides itself on having a shade for every face.  Women of color will definitely be happy to see a wide variety of shades in this collection.

Swatches: Light 1, Medium 1, Medium 2.

The foundation literally ***glided*** on my skin.  From watching the videos, I feared that this foundation would be cakey or dry, but I was absolutely wrong.  It applies like a luxurious face cream.  It soaks into the skin, and it doesn't feel heavy at all.  The formula contains anti-oxidants and is free of parabens, mineral oil and petrolatum. I applied with a foundation brush and wet sponge after the methods used by Eve Pearl in her videos.  See my before and after below.

My Before and After!  Click to enlarge the photo.

Eve Pearl fully understands the blemishes, dark circles and all those things that we would like to keep secret when we show our faces to the world.

To Review:
Eve Pearl HD Foundation
Pros: Luxurious, gliding texture.  Weightless on the skin. Medium to full coverage depending on application method. Paraben, mineral oil and petrolatum free.

Cons: Pricey, but a little goes a LONG way.  Packing on the trio isn't as nice as the standard duo.  Only available online and at a few select retail locations.
Overall Beautyburg Rating: A
