How Did Maybelline Fit Me? Maybelline New York Fit Me Foundation Photos, Swatches, Review

Maybelline Fit Me Products: Foundations, Concealer and Pressed Powder.

Me BEFORE and AFTER my "fitting."

Hi everyone!  This week has really flown by.  For the past two weeks, I have been road-testing Maybelline New York Fit Me Foundation.  I have to say I have always wanted to be a girl who used drugstore foundation, and I have found some really great contenders.  However, I always revert back to department store or high-end brands.  Foundation is one of those tricky makeup items that I do feel that the majority of the time a pricier product is justified.  That said, I wasn't really sure how a $7 foundation (which is even cheap by drugstore standards) was going to do pitted against some of my favorite expensive brands.

Let me say... the socks were blown off.  I couldn't believe how good this foundation was... and not just by drugstore standards.  The technology that went into this line is pretty impressive.  The feeling of the foundation is extremely lightweight.  It blended incredibly well and had a satin finish.  What impressed me most is how well it was close to skin texture and look when applied.  I bought 220 Natural Beige, which was a pretty good match to my NC30 skintone, but I liked this foundation so much that I bought a lighter shade to custom blend an exact match.  Even with two bottles, it's still cheaper than a MAC foundation!

I have actually found myself reach for this more than my usual foundations lately.  It's a great option for daytime wear with its medium coverage, which can be sheered out.  My favorite way to apply it is a stippling method with a MAC 130 brush.  Then I blend with a lightly dampened sponge.  Maybelline New York Fit Me Foundation also has a SPF of 18 for those who are sun conscious.  It lasted very well through a long day and didn't oxidize.  The finish is satin, and I would say this is more hydrating vs oil controlling.  But I do think all skin types could use this foundation.

So maybe my dream of being a drugstore foundation girl is actually coming true.  I highly recommend checking this out if you want a natural foundation for even coverage at a low price.   I will be doing a review on Fit Me Concealer and Pressed Powder and Blush later, but as a spoiler, I started off on a good note.

Pressed Powder comes with a puff and mirror.

How do you think this foundation "fits?"

To Review:
Maybelline New York Fit Me Foundation $7 for 30ml, 1fl.oz. at drugstores, Target, Walmart nationwide.
Pros: 18 shades from very pale to dark.  Very nice satin skinfinish.  Feels light and natural on skin.
Cons: Hard to tell from the bottle what's the best shade.  Their shade matcher, which is a plastic slot where you put your finger, isn't the best system.

Eve Pearl HD Dual Pressed Powder Review and New Video on Our YouTube Channel!

You have heard me rave about the Eve Pearl's HD Foundation, click this link if you haven't seen this review! It's a luxurious cream foundation that feels like skincare, photographs beautifully and creates a flawless finish. As much as I love this foundation, sometimes I need to just apply something fast and run. In this type of situation, I have typically reached for powder foundations formulas. However, I confess, I have never been a huge fan of them.  I find that powder foundations to be a necessary evil when you are in a pinch, and I had never found a powder foundation that gave a real "skin" finish until I found Eve Pearl's Dual Pressed Powder.

Eve Pearl's Dual Pressed Powder is a dual color compact powder foundation that works gorgeously with their cream foundation, but it also works on its own. Check out my video (above) and Eve Pearl's video (below) on how to apply.  With the two shades, it's easy to blend to get a color match.  The compact that I purchased at the end of November and received in December already has hit the pan from tons of usage.  Whether it's setting my foundation or using on its own, I love how this powder looks on my face!

In the video, I'm also using some other products by Eve Pearl that I've loving.  The Eye Palette in Au Natural is a handy set of warmer neutrals.   Click this link to see my review and swatches of Au Natural and Diva Eyes (not in the video).  I also use the Salmon Concealer and Treatment, which is an amazing undereye corrector.  The Photo Finish Press Powder in Neutral sets everything to look picture perfect.

HD Dual Pressed Powder is $42 for 9g, 0.3oz and available at www.evepearl.com.

Eve Pearl - HD Foundation Review - Before and After

HD Foundation Trio A (Light/Medium)

Unless you are addicted to YouTube channels or you have been to IMATS recently, you most probably have never heard of Eve Pearl.  Eve Pearl, the person, is a five time Emmy award winning makeup artist who has worked on numerous celebrities and personalities for TV and movies.  Eve Pearl, the line, produces some amazingly high quality products with serious skincare ingredients that are made to work for photography and help you look your best.

I was really interested in trying this line after seeing the foundation and concealer pop up again and again on YouTube.  Eve Pearl has her own extensive channel on YouTube.  I highly recommend watching it for pointers and instructions on the products.  There are lots of tutorials that you can benefit from even if you weren't interested in the products.

I am NC35 (on the MAC shade scale), and from the videos, I felt that I was possibly in between a medium and light in foundations.  I chose this particular trio because I thought it would suit my skin.  HD Foundation Trio A - Light Medium comes with foundations Light 1, Medium 1 and Medium 2.  Price is $50.

If you aren't sure what shade would work for you, Eve Pearl staffers will match you if you email them of photo of yourself.  Here is a link to their contact page.  The line prides itself on having a shade for every face.  Women of color will definitely be happy to see a wide variety of shades in this collection.

Swatches: Light 1, Medium 1, Medium 2.

The foundation literally ***glided*** on my skin.  From watching the videos, I feared that this foundation would be cakey or dry, but I was absolutely wrong.  It applies like a luxurious face cream.  It soaks into the skin, and it doesn't feel heavy at all.  The formula contains anti-oxidants and is free of parabens, mineral oil and petrolatum. I applied with a foundation brush and wet sponge after the methods used by Eve Pearl in her videos.  See my before and after below.

Eve Pearl HD Foundation
Pros: Luxurious, gliding texture.  Weightless on the skin. Medium to full coverage depending on application method. Paraben, mineral oil and petrolatum free.

Cons: Pricey, but a little goes a LONG way.  Packing on the trio isn't as nice as the standard duo.  Only available online and at a few select retail locations.
